Outdoor ceremony and Unity candle - plus, where to get a nice plain one!?

Do I need to have a vase thing around the candles to keep them from going out?

and more importantly where can i get unity candles that don't have stuff all over them? I really just want something classy and simple - but everything has things and spaklies and stuff on them. Can anyone share a pic of a basic unity candle they used? I'm thinking I just go out and buy plain candles for this one...

Any thoughts?

Thnaks!

i bought mine from lenox.com

it is called wedding promises and was so thrilled when it came in the mail the other day - it was like 50 but came with the plain white candles (no sparkles) and was engraved with our wedding date and names...

i love it - i also ordered the matching toasting flutes and server set --- and they too are so elegant and beautiful

here is a pic of the candleholder

I got mine from exclusively weddings.com, My ceremony was outside and it was bit breezy and the candles didn't go out. WE had our officiant light the candles and our mothers come up and hand us the candles to light the center one.

Since I got married outside during a hurricane, we had a little problem with the candle. It would not light. I never thought about that ahead of time. You should probably get a glass to go around it.

My suggestion is to get the glass to go around it, and to make sure your candles sit deep inside the glass. My sister had her wedding on the beach in a little wind. My mom and the groom's mom had so much trouble lighting the candle with the wind that they missed my sister coming down the aisle. I felt so bad for my mom!
