I failed my hour hour glucose test!

Now I have to go in one week for the three hour test. Can anyone tell me what to expect? And should I worry at this point? I've done some reading and if I fail this test, they're talking about checking my blood four times a day, possible insulin injections, a strict diet. It seems too much to handle. And help is appreciated - thanks!!!

Re: I failed my hour hour glucose test!

Don't worry, lots of ladies fail this 1 hr test. My SIL did and she went for the 3 hr and she was fine.

Re: I failed my hour hour glucose test!

I failed my 1 hour test too. For my 3 hour test, they first took 1 vial of blood, then I drank 16 oz of the orange juice stuff then each hour they took a vial of my blood. They pook me 4 times Don't want to scare you as i'm sure other places do the 3 hour test differently.

Re: I failed my hour hour glucose test!

I failed my 1 hour test, and the nurse in my dr office convinced me that I had gestational diabetes, they sent me for the 3 hour test and I was fine. Dont worry a lot of girls fail it. The 3 hour test is just like the 1 hour test except the drink has more glucose and they take blood from you 4 times (1 before you drink and 1 every hour after). Dont worry everything will be ok

Re: I failed my hour hour glucose test!

I had GD during my pregnancy.
For my 3 hour test I made sure that Scott came with me and that I had a snack ready the minute I was allowed to eat again.
You can feel very weak so I highly suggest having someone with you...plus it is boring!

If you do have GD please feel free to PM me. I have lots of info on it.

Good Luck!

Re: I failed my hour hour glucose test!

Thanks Michele - my test is Friday and I'm not sure how long the results take. If I fail the test, I will definitely FM you for info. The whole situation is stressful for me and DH (he worries about everything). And he will be sitting with me for the three hours with a snack waiting!

Re: I failed my hour hour glucose test!

I had GD in my pregnancy as well. The three hour test is extremely boring. I brought two trashy mags and finished them both and was so bored. Taking a friend or DH may be a good idea! I wouldn't get concerned yet - a lot of people fail the one hour and not the three hour. If you do wind up with GD - please FM me - I just went thru it and can totally talk to you or offer support. On a good note - mine was controlled with a strict diet and my little baby boy is almost one month old and perfectly healthy!!!!!
