Re: Bourne Mansion Brides

I'm not getting married there, but if I was getting married on LI, that would be the place!!

I just wanted to tell you I was at a function there, not a wedding, and it was gorgeous!! I am sure you will be very happy, I'm jealous!

Re: Bourne Mansion Brides

I agree, def. negotiate, negotiate, negotiate.

I would basically look at what they state on the actual cost sheet as a jumping off point for negotiations.

The only think that isn't negotiable is the fee for the college. Totaly separate from the caterers.

The only other thing that troubled me was configuring tables to see how much room there was for a dance floor and band. The sheet they gave with the tables was somewhat misleading I thought. I'm having 200+ guests and we were slightly concerned there wouldn't be enough room. But it should be ok.

Also, I sort of wish the bridal suite was a bit nicer.

Re: Bourne Mansion Brides

i dont have a problem with the size of the room because basically the highest number of guests that i would have is 160. I also was not thrilled with the condition of the bridal suite at all. I would definitely try to bring in my own long mirror b/c i did not see one in there... i also was thinking of having the florist decorate it with some flowers...

Does anyone know if the site fee is included when calculating the tip and the tax? that would make it more expensive. also, do they put out enough tables for everyone to sit out during the cocktail hour? and if it rains and the cocktail hour is not outside... which rooms do they move into and is there enough seating? these are questions i forgot to ask when i was there...

Re: Bourne Mansion Brides

I don't know if you're having your ceremony there, but when you walk in, the room to the right, we are setting up with all tables. That's the room they use for the ceremony, so that's why I ask if you're having it there. If not, then that's all seating. Plus I think they put those coctail tables out. I'm not really concerned about seating for the coctail hour, it should be fine. I would definitely make sure to complain about the condition of the bridal suite. I have not been there lately, but the last time I was, they had updated it. I know that if you complain about anything, the jump to fix it. They painted the ballroom when we complained enough when we booked.

Re: Bourne Mansion Brides

The site fee ia a non-negotiable fee of $3950 and it goes directly to St. Johns.

As far as the Bridal Suite goes, I don't even remember what it looks like! I;m not getting ready there, so that is not that important to me.
