Is anyone's FH/DH bothered when you wear costume jewelry?

I bought a really nice coral colored sweater and brown pants w/ a thin coral pinstripe in NY&CO, and they had a necklace that really looked great, so I bought it.

Brought the outfit home and tried it on for FH - the first thing out of his mouth was 'You're not really gonna wear that plastic necklace thingy with it, right? The outfit is classy, the necklace is plastic. You have so much nice jewelry!'

So we got into a conversation about it - he really hates it when I wear 'fake' jewelry! He feels that somehow it's cheesy.

WHAT is with this guy!?!?!

I'm lucky if DH notices which jewlery I'm wearing! I have tons of jewlery from NY & Co, Express, etc..he has no problem with it. I like having stuff that matches my clothing

I don't wear costume Jewlery.

Don't know why either. The only non gold thing I wear is My puka shells (sp) from Hawaii.

I don't own much jewelry nor do I wear much, but whatever costume jewelry I do have DH doesn't care for. He doesn't really comment on it, but if I ask something like 'which earrings do you like better?' he would say neither.

I started making jewelry recently... not really costume... but nothing with diamonds or anything... mostly sterling silver w/ swarovski crystal beads... anyway FI has been getting SO upset whenever i wear my stuff... he tells me it looks cheap (and my stuff isn't cheap... i sell it to salons who then sell it for mad $$$)and he gets all baby-like and wants me to only wear his jewelry that he bought me! what a brat!

I don't think DH knows the difference, but when i was looking for BM jewelery, occasionaly he would said, ' that looks junky', which cracks me up.

I guess your FH just wants you to wear what he got you

thes eguys dont understand that costume jewelry comes in all colors and sizes to spice up an outfit! its fun!

I absolutely love costume jewelry, I wear it much more than Jewelry from Tiffanys or any jewelry store..but Dex does say something..he feels in some wierd way that I shouldnt be wearing cheap jewelry....he is beginning to realize that I love costume jewelry..its still not cheap jewelry by any means,.its more 50 for a neckace rather than 300. It makes perfect sense to me!

I've decided that this year I am going to accessorize to the max. I always just wore gold or silver hoops and a plain necklace ... so i have been buying costume jewelery from all over the place - NY & Co, express, Ann Taylor ... and I have been getting tons of compliments ... It think 'fun' jewelery really finishes off an outfit more than regular 'nice' jewelery. It's trendy.

Guys don;t know what they are talking about!

Yes. He can't stand it!!! I always wear my $18 watch and he yells at me because he bought me a more expensive one for my birthday one year and I rarely wear it..or I wear it when I get dressed up..he gets so annoyed with me..

Why do they care so much?? Jeez!!

I guess I'm 'lucky' that Brad doesn't buy me enough jewelry to have a legitimate complaint about me wearing costume stuff!
