GOOD SAM OR NEW ISLAND HOSPITAL???

Doc told us we have the two choices above to deliver but I heard New Island is no longer doing deliveries and no one I speak to knows very much about Good Samaritan Hospital. Please help us out if anyone has any info or possibly a website to find info. THANKS!!!!

I heard the same thing about New Island Hospital. A friend of mine knows several of the OB nurses there and most now have jobs at other hospitals (they were offered other departments in New Island, but wanted to continue OB).

I am scheduled to deliver at Good Sam and know several people who have delivered there. They have excellent neo-natal care, and I've heard the labor and delivery nurses are very good.

New Island closed their maternity ward a few months back. A lot of their doctors have come to Winthrop now which is where I work and let me say that there labor & delivery department is fantastic. However I hear that Good sam has a great facility as well.

Good Sam has a very nice maternity ward. DH's best friend's kids were all delivered there.

I'm delivering at Good Sam and my cousin is a nurse there. She delivered both of her children there (within the past 2-3 years) so even though I might like to switch over to Winthrop because I hear their NICU is the best and their maternity ward is nicer - if I can't I'm content with delivering at Good Sam.
