LOS ANGELES -- Shannon Elizabeth, who starred in 'American Pie,' and husband Joseph Reitman have decided to split, People magazine reported Monday.

'The couple will remain friends,' spokeswoman Nicole King told the magazine. The two continue to share a Los Angeles home, she said.

Elizabeth, 31, and Reitman, 36, also an actor, married in June 2002 in a ceremony on a beach in Mexico, People said. They have no children.

Reitman has appeared in films starring Elizabeth, including 'American Pie 2' and 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.'

The couple co-founded Animal Avengers, a nonprofit animal rescue organization.

She did one of those 'while you were out' shows for him - I remember watching it...

they lived VERY modestly!

Seriously, whats in the water? Why is everyone splitting lately?

I just read that brigitte nielson got married again too - and NOT to flava. HOw long's that gonna last?!

there arent any young celebrities that take marriage seriously


the only couple i know of that is loyal and in love years later is Newman/ Woodward.....and that was a 2nd marriage for them too!

Ugh! I just read that too....it is so sad.
There are way too many stories of couples splitting. On a happier note, I hear Brad and Jen are back together and going to couseling.

Celebrity marriages stand as much of a chance of working out as ours do. 50/50 like it or not.

I can imagine that all that speculation and publicity make it that much harder.

I think celebrity marriages have less of a chance of working out. Being in the public eye and having to spend so much time apart while working on projects certainly must take its toll. I know if I read speculation about my husband having an affair every day in tabloids it would be a strain on our relationship, even if I didn't doubt his fidelity...

For some reason I saw this one coming a mile away. Seriouly famous people should just have wedding but not really get married. This way they don't have to go through the hassle of divorce because it always happens!!!

Looks like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have the right idea....no marriage and still together over 20 years!

I always thought it was weird how in a celebrity couple..one is paid to roll around in bed kissing another...isn't that weird? lets say your spose was paid 25000 to kiss another women and roll around with her..wouldn't that be crazy to watch? Because it is 'acting' and their 'job' it is not considered infidelity?

i liked them too...they seemed nice together, like they weren't a celebrity marriage.

When I saw her on the E channel talking about her wedding, she seemed so completely happy. I would've never guessed. You can never tell, especially with celebrities. What a shame.
