Ny first dress shopping experience is tonight, and I am really nervous... Is this normal?!

I don't know why.. but I have been so nervous to start dress shopping. I keep putting it off, waiting for my sisters....waiting till I have a long weekend... etc.

So tonight I am going with my mom, and I have had an upset stomach all day long. I can't say anything, cause I feel guilty... Am I nuts?!

Not nuts at all!!! It is very nerve wrenching...The thoughts go through your head 'what if I don't like anything' Don't sweat it....Don't be afraid to try on everything & anything...Even if it doesn't look like it is something you want!! That is how I found mine remember that...

I expect a phone call tonight to tell me how it went!! Don't sweat it buddy

the first time i went dress shopping i was more excited than nervous. just relax and have fun.

No, you are normal! But I will tell you that once you are there, you will have fun! It's so exciting to look in the mirror when you are wearing a wedding dress! Enjoy and let us know how it goes!!

I was nervous too!! I was more nervous when the I learned that the lady usually stay in the room with you when you are getting changed...didn't find that out til I got in the dressing room and she was like 'ok you can get undressed'...don't wear a thong!

I am very self consious too so I was worried that people would be looking at me...but when you get that dress on especially one that you like...you will fell like a million bucks!

i felt uncomfortalbe going- it almost felt - now this is weird- felt like I was not supposed to be there- like I was pretending to be a bride- meanwhile the ring is right there on my finger.....however, after trying on a few dresses I felt better.

but honestly, dress shopping was not my favorite thing to do. i dont like putting that slip on and having everyone in the store look at me. i guess i dont really like attention. luckily i found my dress at the 3rd pleace we went to - in burtons. anyway, good luck and take pictures!!

I was a little nervous to go. I was worried that they wouldn't have anything that fit me and I wouldn't be able to try anything on. I was worried that the ladies would be mean to me. Once I started trying on gowns, the nervousness went away and I had a lot of fun

sooo normal....
I didnt even plan my appt....went to look at Bm dresses with mom and ended up tryin on dresses so i couldnt get myself all hyped up for it....

I think it is normal to be a little nervous. I haven't started shopping and I know I am because I'm afraid nothing is going to look good on me. But try to have fun and let us all know how it went!

OMG!!! I've been doing the same thing. I'm so nervous and I don't know why. I keep putting it off. I've already gone to look at the dress I love but have been putting off going to try it on. I think it's cuz I feel guilty about the price and hope I don't like it for that reason. Other times I just feel intimidated i guess. YES, I know I'm strange.

Ok... so I went dress shopping for the first time.....

I have to say I didn't love it.. maybe because I didn't love the dresses they had. I really just want something quite simple in design.. just an A-line construction.. possibly silk... a little poofy, but not Princess-like... and not enought sequins so that I compete with the chandeliers! I almost feel like I'm going to pay an arm and a leg just to find this kind of dress.....I had to throw out everything I had in my head, and I grabbed a bunch of dresses that I thought I might like...

The bridal lady was not the best.. I had my first encounter with her when I brought my sisters there to look at BM dresses.. ofcourse she didn't remember me, but thats ok cause she didn't really help us that much. She picked out about 9 dresses and off I went..

It was soooooo wierd to see myself all decked out like that. But I kept going.. and the place kept filling up with people.. but I was the only one trying on! So everyone was staring, I was so uncomfortable. But I found one dress that I sort of like.. but nothing close to what I want. But it's a start... and I hope the next trip on Sunday to BR will be a lot better... this time atleast my sisters will be with me and they'll make me feel more at ease...

I'll let you know how Sunday goes.. and as for other bridal salons.. anyone have a GREAT experience at one, and like to share the name with me?

i haven't goen yet, but my sister who is getting married this year is using Lillettes in baldwin for her dress and our dresses. so far, so good. and they are definetly affordable.

I'm glad to post it, cause I thought I was the ONLY one out there who felt like this, and the guilt was driving me nuts.. So I figured if any place there was to find someone else who felt this way.. it was LIW

it was just ok.. didn't like being stared at by all the people in the store though.. it was so strange! lol.. i wrote more, it's a little bit above these posts

tonight I went with my mom to macy's in manhasset....I just felt that the selection was ok... not too different, cause all of the dresses seemed to be so busy and ornate.. but it could be just me, cause I'm not into that and I think any dress with 'stuff' on it isn't for me.... I remember going there with my friend when she got married last year, and I thought they had a larger selection..
