Blocking Hotel Rooms HELP

How far in advance did you, or can you block hotel rooms??? Do you block rooms at more than one hotel??? I

want to send out STDs and am wondering if I include this info in the STDs, which I am giving out about 10 mo before the wedding, or just wait and put that info in the invitation...

what did you girls all do?????

i didn't send out STD's but if i did, I would include the hotel information with that.

as an FYI - American Airlines has a wedding program where they'll give 5-10% off for people travelling to your wedding.

I blocked off rooms at the Marriott in Islandia back in January. The sooner the better I think.

I only booked at the one hotel and included the information in the STD's.

Yes, you should include the hotel info. I am getting married upstate, so I booked 2 hotels besides the resort where we are having the reception. I wanted to give people choices.

I reserved the rooms right away, so I could guarantee a reservation, but I don't think there's any time limit. I would do it ASAP though, to ensure a large enough room block if you need it.

And I put all the hotels on my STD

I blocked off 2 hotels, one more expensive than the other (this way they had choices) and I printed the info on my STD's.

The sooner you can check something off - the better

didn't block anything yet because i'm trying to find out price wise what people are looking for so i included a card telling them to check out our website for that type of information

I blocked rooms at Hygatt Windwatch in August of '04 and am getting married this Nov. I am sending out STD and including the hotel info. I am also sending the hotel info w/ the invitation in case people don't want to think about hotel rooms now when I send out the STD. I just made copies of the hotel cards so that I had enough.

I am in the processing blocking 2 hotel, one for friend near the wedding and the other for family near FMIL's house. I should have done it early because one hotel i wanted was already booked. I would do it as early as you can, it won't cost you anything. I am booking the Bestwestern in Woodbury and in Rockville Centre

I did not send STD cards. We put the information on our wedding website. I blocked the rooms since the middle of December. I was trying to get the best rates that I could.

I am sending my STDs this weekend (8months before wedding). I am including a little post card with hotel information. It includes three hotels where I set up blocks, three more near the reception hall, and one across from Laguardia. Setting up blocks is really easy and can be done now. If you want to see the postcard, let me know and i'll FM it to you.

We booked the Courtyard Marriot on the LIE in February and our wedding is in June. I'd say, the sooner the better, but most of the places didn't have a set rate yet.
