I know I'm not supposed to post here, but I'm desperate on photography
I apologize, but I have gotten very few responses on BHB & 05, which I'm surprised about because I know many of these girls have booked photographers. Maybe this question never crossed their minds?Anyway, I would great appreciate it if any of you could provide feeback on the following:
We are stuck on photographers (I feel so behind - we wanted this booked months ago.)
How do you feel about digital photography vs. film? I've done some research & it's just made me more confused. What did you use and why?
TIA!

Re: I know I'm not supposed to post here, but I'm desperate on photography
We used film because we are old school.
I didn't do my research so I may be wrong, but I don't think there's a significant difference in clarity or resolution in one format vs. the other. It was more important to us to find a photographer whose style we liked, not so much about which format they use.
Also, this is a public forum so you can post wherever you like...

I used a digital photographer because I thinkthe pictures are a bit crisper, I also loved the fact that all my pictures could be on a disk and I never would have to worry about losing any of them.

A good photographer - negative film or digital - is all about their talent and style. The way they capture it will only be important if somethign is wrong with it or you happen to be know a lot about photography in general.Provided your photographers are using the really high end cameras (like costing thousands of dollars each), the quality is comprable to regular film.
Im a little old school and still prefer to use a 35mm camera when Im taking 'important' photos b/c I think a lot of things can happen to the data on a memory card that can't happen so easily to rolls of film. But thats just me. Im sure professional photographers wouldnt put their reputation on the line by doing anything less than quality work.

we used digital and i think the photos came out great we used digital basically because the photographer we fell in love with used it - i use digital just about everything so it wasnt even a thought a good photographer will be just that no matter what type of camera they use

We went with film. Our photographer does both film and digital. His preference was film, though. Unfortunately, I don't remember why.I think it's really important to find a photographer that understands what you want and that you are comfortable with. The photographer's style is also a big factor. These things were more important to me than whether he used film or digital.

Unless your photographer deletes the file, which is what happened to my friend's engagement pictures.
I'm sure that is pretty rare, though.

I'm sure that is pretty rare, though.
Just ask for it. The photographer doesn't have to keep it.

He deleted it before giving her any pictures.

I will say: A combo is a good way to go.Our photograher did some amazing work zooming and cropping because of the digital photos. It is not as easy a task with film.
I personally, think that both is best. The black and white is best with film in terms of sharpness and for that classic look, but overall... we have more options this way.
GOOD LUCK!

we had patken- they did traditional for the traditional family pictures, and then the extra more artsy ones were done digital.

Re: I know I'm not supposed to post here, but I'm desperate on photography
I definetly say both. There is nothing like film. A digital photographer will catch a lot of pictures (including bad ones) because they'll never run out of film.tThey don't necessarily have to be a good shooter either as long as the person editing the job knows what they're doing to correct a bad photo.A photographer who uses film will select the perfect time & moment to make the right shots.
Usually whatever photographer you choose will be able to digitally correct or enhance anything you desire anyway once they scan the pictures for your album.
You can't go wrong if you choose a good, professional photographer. Remember, sometimes you get what you pay for.
I prefer film, however the most beautiful albums I've looked at happen to be done digitally. Digital albums usually count the pages and not the picures. Be sure when booking your photographer you ask how many pages versus pictures will you get in your album package.
