Is anyone taking dance lessons for the wedding?
I love my FH with all of my heart, but my poor sweetie is not a Fred Astaire. I've heard of people taking lessons, seen it in about a million bridal shows and movies, but where does one actually go? Any suggestions??

Re: Is anyone taking dance lessons for the wedding?
we took lessons at Arthur Murray. We are in white plains, but they have locations on LI too. It was $200 for 4 lessons, but the first one was free, and we got an extra lesson for getting another couple to sign up. It made us feel much more comfortable - i highly reccomend them!

Re: Is anyone taking dance lessons for the wedding?
We're currently taking lessons at Nassau Comm. College. So far we just had the first class but I think it'll turn out pretty good. It was $85 per person and you get 10 classes. The only thing is you learn as a group but there is a teacher and 2 assistants so there is someone to help people out individually if necessary.

I'm considering lessons too - FH and I love to dance together and we're not so bad at it but I think it would be great to WOW everyone!

Re: Is anyone taking dance lessons for the wedding?
I know what you mean. My FH can't not dance at all. We are actually taking 'swing' lessons at a place in Setauket. I found them on here. They're called cooperative partners. It's $120 a couple for four lessons and they di them on Sundays which was bonus for us because that's really the only day we both have completely free. Last week was our first class. FH was horrible. I ended up dancing with the instructor more than him. He was getting so mad, but by the end of the class he was actually getting it and learning to laugh at himself. It's all about having fun. Plus my sister and BIL and one of my BM and her hubby are taking the class with us. We've already decided that we are going to more classes when this one is over.

Re: Is anyone taking dance lessons for the wedding?
MJ,We have been taking lessons in the City at Dance Manhattan. They were $70 for a month (4 lessons) but if you mention city search then you can get $15 off the price. If you are also a student, then you can get $ of the price. We took them last month and this month. We are going to stop after this month b/c of finals and the bar exam, but pick up again in August for one on one lessons until our wedding.

See, I'm the dancer, and it would be great to have FH WOW everyone, since everyone knows he can only cut a rug after a few LI Iced Teas!!

Thanks I will be giving them a call. I figure we would try to start lessons around the end of june, cuz I wouldn't want FH to forget anything. Do they work with you and your actual wedding song?

We've been taking ballroom dancing (my FH and I) for 2 years now. But we will have somebody choreograph our first dance.

No. We may take a few private lessons if we decide we want our first song choreographed. But I doubt it b/c we're going to have e/o join us after about 45 seconds (just enough time for the photographer to take pics).
