repost from home board: We Officially started to house hunt!!

So FI is a big baby and does not take to change very well... we offically started house hunting... everything has to be done in baby steps for him to get used to the idea...

here are our steps so far...

1. started to look at house in the paper...
2. Once he was used to that, we started to look at houses on mlsli.com and looked at pictures of the insides of houses...
3. I went to a realtor friend to tell her to keep an eye out for us... and gave us a stack of prospect sheets to go through
4. weeks later, FI actually LOOKed at the sheets...
5. after begging and pleading we drove through the areas we were interested in
6. after some more prodding, we actually drove by houses that were for sale in our price range that I had prospect sheets on
7. FI now goes on MLSLI.com by himself!!!
8. now FINALLY he is ready to look at the inside of actual houses that we can afford!!

So i made appts for this weekend to go look at houses!!! Im so excited!!! Im hoping this first outing wont depress us...

Congrats & welcome to the house hunting club!!! What areas are you looking in??? We have been officially house hunting for the past 6 months & nothing yet

At least we are coming into the high season now, so more should be on the market..

Don't know if you've done it already or not, but you should also get pre-approved for a mortgage....makes you a much more credible buyer - - and speeds up the process when you find 'The One'.

Congrats & welcome to the house hunting club!!! What areas are you looking in??? We have been officially house hunting for the past 6 months & nothing yet At least we are coming into the high season now, so more should be on the market..

We started looking in the Sound Beach/ Rocky Point area, but are now looking in 3 village, comsewogue area... It's so stinky... the good houses go so fast!! I just heard from our realtor, who I asked to show us about 7 houses this weekend... only 4 are still available!!

all the affordable houses go so quick!!!

If you've not done so already, ask your realtor to set you up with auto e-mails. that way you will be e-mailed every time a house goes up for sale that suits your search criteria. I get an e-mail anytime a new home goes up on the market that meets my standard. So, anything on multiple listing available gets e-mailed to me right away.
