05 Newlyweds: Question about catholic ceremonies

There is a prayer that follows the rite of marriage and exchange of rings. Did you have to kneel for this prayer? TIA!

We didn't but it was an option.

Actually when DH got to the church the kneelers were out and he had to tell them to get rid of them.
