RANT: WHY do we pay these people so much money??

First of all, last time I checked, a 'rhyme' was supposed to...oh, I dunno --RHYME. Using the same word at the end of the lyric doesn't constitute rhyming to me. Must've been real hard to come up with a couple of sentences that ended in 'this'.

Second of all, how much talent, creativity, and effort does it take to listen to a few dozen beats sent to you on CD, pick a couple and talk over them... in rhyme, of course (see above)?

Third, as a supposed 'fan' why do I need to hear about how many millions of records you sold, how much 'bling' you own (there's a word that's ready for the missing throw up icon), and how many fancy cars you uh, don't drive - in EVERY 'song' you come out with? How does that make me relate to you and your music? What message is it exactly that you are trying to send to your fans? Cause all I'm hearing is 'I'm rich and you're not'.

Meanwhile, WE (not that I've ever bought one of your records because artists like you make me more than happy to pirate music and even feel justified in doing so) are the one making these people rich.

And not just wealthy. No, filthy disgusting rich. To the point that we have to create entire television shows devoted to HOW they spend their money and showcasing their extravagant homes. When I hear about how some of these people buy a pair of $125 sneakers to only wear once, then throw away, it really makes me angry. Not because I can't do it... but because you can't help but think of what that money could do for someone who truly needed it and deserved it.

I picked on 50 Cent but he is by far not the only one. Most of the hip-hop industry is guilty of this: make a record in 2 seconds that literally requires zero talent and zero musical ability. Next, collect millions of dollars. Most of these so-called artists can't even perform to save their lives. Seriously, standing on stage with one hand waving from your crotch to the air, mic in your mouth while screaming into it, is NOT a performance, in my humble opinion.

But the hip-hoppers are not the only guilty ones. You can throw all the boy bands, Britneys, and J.Los of the world into that pile too. It just seems to me that music has lost SO much these days. Rarely does anyone have a real message in their songs, rarely does anyone really sing about something meaningful, heck... we're lucky if they are even really singing at all...blessed if they are actually playing their own instruments.

Yet we continue to buy their albums, make them famous and filthy rich...WHY???

I totally have to agree with u. I just wont even listen to the music unless I have to.
I dont contribute to their music but I am one person.

what do you mean he can't rhyme? he rhymed 'here' with 'here.' now thats talent.

i completly agree. i see no point to the millions upon millions the singers get. and not one of the can write a lyric or play an insturment if they had to.

i'll stick with my favorite bands: barenaked ladies, our lady peace, pearl jam...all artists that write and play their own music.
