Teacher question- Where you living at home when you do your student teaching?
My husband will be doing his student teaching coming next year and I was wondering how you all did it living home or on your own with no income for 4-6months?? How did you survive??Just wondering!!'
I guess this question is more for people that were living on there own not at there parents house not paying for rent.
Thanks in advance
Denise

I did my student teaching just after DH and I got married. It was hard going down to one salary, but I tutored while student teaching so I made some money there. We just basically really evaluated our budget and chopped off anything that wasn't a necessity.

I did not live at home. I was lucky enough that my job let me stay. I cut back my hours, but I would student teach and then go straight to work (I was a paralegal.) I don't know how else we would have been able to do it. I needed to make some $$$. I was lucky my job was so flexible with me.

FH and I both were living on our own and doing our internships/student teaching at the same time. It is tough but we both worked nights and weekends in order to pay the bills.

Fh did it last september, and yes, he was living at home. And there were no movies, takeout was rare, and he was on a very strict lunch budget too. The teachers he worked with often went to lunch at an italian place around the corner, but he would brown-bag it.He student taught about 40 miles away from home, and had to fill his gas tank 2x a week sometimes.
He made it, and you will too.

I was lucky enough to do my 'student teaching' in my regular parochial school classroom, so I was actually earning an income (if you can call it that!)
