Anyone live out East and drive to work in Queens?

Does the commute totally suck? Where are you coming from and what part of Queens are you traveling to? How long is the ride? Thanks for your help!

Re: Anyone live out East and drive to work in Queens?

ok, not exactly your question, but FH drives from Kings park/Fort Salonga (north end of the Sunken Meadow/Sagtikos pkwy - exit 53 on the LIE) to Elmont everyday (almost Queens.)

It takes him about 50 minutes on a good day to get to his school, and if there's any precip, it's at least 1.5 hrs.

Remember that storm we had a couple weeks ago? He left work at 3:45 and got home after 8. yikes!!! (He fills his gas tank 2x a week.)

Re: Anyone live out East and drive to work in Queens?

I had to do it one day and I'm glad it wasn't a permanent thing. I live in Hauppauge and I had to drive to Douglaston. It took me 1 hour and 20 minutes. The drive home wasn't bad, luckily, because I ended up getting out really early (2:00) and it only took me 45 minutes to get home. I could imagine if you worked a 9-5 job though, the traffic would be absolutely horrendous on the commute home.

Re: Anyone live out East and drive to work in Queens?

I work at LIJ (right on the Queens border) and right now I commute from West Babylon. No traffic it takes about 30 minutes. With traffic about 45 minutes. When it rains/snows it really depends. The last snowstorm we had it took me about 2.5 hours (left work at 4:30 and was home about 7/7:15). I have no problem with the commute.
