Suffolk Girls, High speed Internet Q---HELP
We are moving to Lindenhurst & I'd like to set up our high speed internet. I just wanted to know which is the way to go:
Optimum Online? Verizon

Can you let me know what you use & how much it cost?
Thank you!!!!!!

Re: Suffolk Girls, High speed Internet Q---HELP
Marry or cohabit with a Cablevision employee and cable won't cost you a dime. FH is an analyst for Cablevision and we won't be paying for cable, internet or our phone service (digital) as long as we live where Cablevision serves. That is why I have to leave Queens. It will be saving us probably over $200 a month. I am psyched.

Re: Suffolk Girls, High speed Internet Q---HELP
Is that really the only 2 choices?
Optimum & Verizon?
Is Verizon as fast as "cable"?
I currently have roadrunner in Queens.
Thanks again!

you dont need to pay for a second computer...buy a router
Opt Online is fastest cable serive ava in America.
Roadrunner is a slower cable ava in the city.
Verizon is great for an avg Jane and 15 less then OptOnline.
must people really dont under the speed of cable making verizon a good choice in terms of $$

Re: Suffolk Girls, High speed Internet Q---HELP
Thanks for all the info ladies.
On the website it says verizon might not be available in my area
I also have to speak to the landlord b/c I think he said we can do a router off his Optimim.
Can someone explain how that works. Will we have a separate email & everything?

Awesome, isn't it? DH works for Cablevision and it's one of the greatest perks possible

For Verizon, you need to be a certain distance to a switch station..... you can go to thier website and input your phone number and/or address and they will tell. If you even closer, you can get faster service.
If you share of his opt online... chances are he will not set you up an email..and even if he did, he would have access to your account since he has the master account. A router is like when you split a connection to a tv...a router is just for computer.. you plug internet in to it... and coming out, you can branch to multiple computers.
going back to email...you can always get a msn accoung, gmail...or whatever
i would try to split it with landlord and try to work out an agreement to pay for internet... prephaps split the bill 50/50 or somthing... 20 bucks a month is great

I have used optimum online for 5 years and love it. Just moved to Suffolk and got the triple play for phone, internet and cable TV for $100 per month for a year.

I did it to save money and it is just as fast I don't see any difference in the service. We are in Lindenhurst.
