Staten Island Bride

Are there any staten island brides getting married in LI? My mother is giving me such grief that I won't be getting married in my church. I have looked into the South Shore Country Club and really liked it. Has anyone ever been to a wedding there? Any feedback would be great

Re: Staten Island Bride

I went to a reception there ( the bride and groom had eloped) and it was very nice. Service was good and the food was good. Hope this helps.

Re: Staten Island Bride

I'm married already, but I was a SI bride getting married on LI. I haven't been to South Shore CC in years, and when I was, it was for bar and bat mitzvahs, but it was lovely back then!

Re: Staten Island Bride

My parents gave me grief when I was looking into halls in NJ! So, being from Brooklyn, I'm having our ceremony at our Church in downtown Brooklyn, and the reception in Long Island...totally do-able.

I'm not a fan of the South Shore CC as much as I used to. I think they should update it a bit more. Have you looked into the Vanderbuilt? On Fr. Capadano? I hate the actual location, but it's gorgeous inside.

Yeah, it was a bit tough, b/c i could only get things done on LI on the weekends, but I was engaged for over 2 years, so I spread the planning out a lot. When I see the girls who plan from other parts of the country, I realize that it's not really that bad.

My dress was in NJ, my veil was in Brooklyn, everything else was in LI..I was all over the place.

Re: Staten Island Bride

I'm a Staten Island Bride and getting married in LI....We looked at halls on the weekends and all of our vendors so far are either from Brooklyn (FH lives there) or SI....I've never been to a wedding at the South Shore Country Club but have looked at the Vanderbuilt recently just to see it and the view is beautiful but not too crazy about the place when I found out that when you walk in ur actually standing in the main ballroom. Plus the prices were ridiculous...Good Luck with everything

Re: Staten Island Bride

I live on Staten Island and am getting married on LI. I looked into the SSCC, but was not impressed. They just changed owners and were planning renovation. But, they could not tell us what they were planning to do. They had no drawings or anything. In addition, the guy we met with wasn't very professional.

Harbor Manor impressed me more.

Re: Staten Island Bride

I'm a SI bride who got married in LI. I've been to a few weddings at the SSCC and it was ok. We recently went there in Feb to inquire about a baptisim party and they were doing renovations. The inside is pretty and the grounds are nice, but the outside of the place just didnt go, I didnt want my guest pulling up and seeing what essentially made the place look run-down

Re: Staten Island Bride

I know exactly what you mean about the SSCC's outside being so run down. It totally doesn't go with the inside. They said that they would be redoing the front of the building I will have to speak to Patty in more detail about that. Mainly i was impressed with the amount of food you got at the SSCC but quantity is not everything. The Vanderbuilt is nice from what i have seen but I won't even go look cause I don't want to get depressed with the prices.
