Re: South beach diet?
I tried a modified version- basically no white carbs, lots of veggies, no fatty meats...it worked great but I have NO motivation or willpower...
Good luck!

Re: South beach diet?
I have been on both....South Beach worked very fast and bulge in the stomach was the first to go
But I was so hard to maintain and I got soooo bored after a while!!I am currently on WW....and this is my 6th or 7th time on it. I would lose and then gain in back but I know it was my own fault because I would fall back into old habits...but I think its definetely do able..I have lost 10 pounds since Feb

Re: South beach diet?
My FMIL has been on South Beach for a couple of weeks now and has lost 12 pounds. The first two weeks are tough because you can't have any carbs whatsoever. I tried it for two days and couldn't stick with it. I don't eat a lot of meat and so it was really tough for me.

Re: South beach diet?
I lost 15 pounds really quickly. I think I was on it for about 3 weeks. I strayed from it and tried it again after the New Year....but I couldn't do it again. It made me feel really light headed.

Re: South beach diet?
My mom did south beach and lost 25 pounds in the first month.I'm doing Atkins since it works better for me, it jump starts the metabolism and is a little more drastic than south beach... either way, good luck.

Re: South beach diet?
I just started last a week ago today!! It's really not that bad. I don't think I'm being as strict as I should be but I'm not eating any type of bread, starch, or sugar for two weeks and then going to bring it back in little by little. I lost 3 pounds this week, which is a healthy amount I think and am going to try my best to stick to it. A couple of girls on LIw sent me a couple of good recipe sites. Let me know if you want them and I'll post them for you!

Re: South beach diet?
I know Atkins works but as soon as you fall off expect the weight all back and then some!

Re: South beach diet?
i tried the south beach diet several months ago and i was able to lose 10 pounds in about 6-8 weeks. the amount of weight i lost in the first two weeks was too drastic and i didn't look too healthy but once i started phase 2 (where the diet is less strict) and added in cardio and weight training, i was much happier with the results. depending on your level of will power, you might just want to skip phase 1. it was tough as heck but i think it does help with the initial weight loss. some of my friends tried it and kept 'cheating' so they didn't see results in the short or long run.good luck!

Re: South beach diet?
I've tried so many different plans, and to be honest, the only one that worked for me is Weight Watchers. It's so simple, no gimmicks, no restrictions whatsoever. Basically common sense about portion control, and that's really what it's all about. Just so happens, that's my DOWNFALL!! Serving size = 2 cookies???? YEAH FRIGGIN RIGHT!!!!

Re: South beach diet?
for the most part, i've really like south beach. the first two weeks are the hardest - i was starving those days, but about 5 days in, i felt so much better and my cravings went away. i lost about 7 pounds the first two weeks and i have lost only a few more - but i've been cheating quite a bit and went on a cruise so i'm just happy i didn't gain any weight on the cruise. phase 2 i find to be pretty easy and it lets you eat out, which is great for me. if you need south beach diet details, let me know.

Re: South beach diet?
I did South Beach, and lost about 30 pounds. I've only gained back 5 and I started the diet a little over a year ago. I liked it and it worked, but it is hard to maintain very long term. So now I'm loosing the rest of my weight with the weight watchers points system. But, for a relatively small amount of weight to lose, South Beach is great. And my one suggestion is that you do things slowly, because then it is much easier to keep the weight off. Good luck!

Re: South beach diet?
Ive never been in a 'formal' diet before, but I have a friend who just started South Beach this week. My opinion is...most diets work at first and then you gain double the amt back. Youre BEST bet is to workout and watch what you eat and watch your sugars. Dont 'waste' your calories.ps- if you look today like the pic you have on here, you look GREAT

Re: South beach diet?
I hate diets. I just commited myself to a healthy lifestyle and when I want to eat chocolate or splurge -I do. When I oversplurge I restrict myself for a day or two. My scale does not tell me how I am doing rather the way my clothes fit do. You can't rely on a scale to make you feel good if you weight train. I don't belive in these fad diets because you are prone to gain the weight back. If you wanted to reduce your water weight for one day to reduce puffiness for your wedding day that is another thing...but you will regain that weight immediately. Good Luck trying to accomplish your weight loss goals. It is indeed a difficult battle.Welcome New Vendors
