How does this whole Real Estate appointment making thing work anyway?

We have a few houses we want to look at this weekend all under different realtors and we would like to do it all in one day, preferably Saturday.

How would I go about making appts. with different realtors and try to decipher how much time to allot in between each house hunt we go on.

Also, do we have to drive to the realtors office and then go in their car?---To me thats silly, since we'd really be driving all over the island.......??

Thanks...

Ok first of all, do you know if the houses are multi listings? If they are you can contact one realtor and have them show you all of the houses. If they arent multi listings then you need to contact each realtor seperately.

I would say you will need a good hour to hour and a half to look at a house. You dont want to rush yourself, and you want to make sure you look at all the rooms of the house.

In most cases you would meet the realtor at the house you want to look at. I only contacted one realtor that wanted Danielle and I to come to her office, I told her I would meet her at the house and she never contacted me again....very odd.

Oh really? So it is Ok to meet at the house??....oh good.

I think some are multi and some aren't. We've been staking out the houses we like as well as the neighborhoods in the meantime, so we know which houses we want to look at and which not to so we can avoid wasting our time as well as the realtors.

Thanks for the info.

i have one realtor that I call when i find a house that we want to see... she makes the arrangements and I meet her there... I have also gone in her car, but that is because I know her well, otherwise I would not have felt as comfortable with that... we saw about 4 houses with in an hour or so, but they were all in the same area...

Re: How does this whole Real Estate appointment making thing work anyway?

we called one realtor, met at her office on a saturday, she drove us in her car to the 4-5 houses, drove back to the office and then we drove home. it took about 2 hours.

they make you sign a representation agreement for the town they work in that says you cant work with another realtor in that TOWN for x amount of time. Its usually 30 days. Be prepared - its standard.

Also, if you offer on the house, you have to write a check for 1% of the offer for good faith.

The check does not get cashed until the seller accepts your offer.

We do the same - call one realtor and she takes us around...30 minutes/house should be plenty of time for you to decide if it's worth a second looksie.

We've made 2 offers and did not write a check for any percentage.
