Anyone know of training places in Suffolk county?

I was wondering where and how much?? I don't think I want to bring him to petco unless I hear good things about it!!

We live in Nassau, but we've been taking Golem to DogWorks in Holbrook. It's a 7 week course called The Family Dog Program and it's only $180! Sue is our trainer and she is absolutely amazing, Golem has taken to his new training so quickly and the classes are a nice size - about 10 - 12 dogs. They even have a pet supplies store in the same building! A friend of our breeder recommeneded them, so even though we live in Nassau co, we don't mind the drive at all! We're very happy with it so far!

There is a woman who is great, she comes to your home and does the training one and one with you and your pet/s, her name is Marilyn and her company is Alpha Dog Training, I'm not sure of the $$$, we DH and I used her and he recommends her to all his clients. Just look her up in the White pages and she'll give you info.

What kind of things do they do with Golem?
I thought it would be fun to take our Lucy to training classes, but I havent seen any that the descriptions seem worth the cost of the classes.

It's basic obedience - our first week was orientation, no dogs, and she gave us a broad overview of what we'd be learning in the class, what type of leash/collar to use, treats to use while training, etc. Then last week was our first real class - she went over Sit, Greetings, Down, Look (getting your dog to focus on you), and another exercise that teaches your dog that being bossy/pushy will not get your attention. The class is a group class, abut an hour and a half long, and there all all different types of dogs tehre too. Our class has a newfoundland, golden labs, daschunds, black labs, a German Shepherd, and another little dog (Shi Zu maybe) It's really nice, and the insructor goes around and personally helps everyone with the exercizes. Oh yeah, and we get homework too!

hey - that would be awesome!!!!! Funny thing - Golem actually has a play date for this weekend already with one of Craig's student's dogs - but I'd love to set something up so Asia and Golem could play together!

Especially withthe weather getting nice again, I think that would be a lot of fun!

I swear, my dog's social calendar is more exciting than mine lately!
