BTDT Moms, question about sleeping?

Hi mommies, I am curious if your newborn seemed to sleep all the time. Alex seems to sleep constantly (not that I am complaining). He will go 3 to 4 hours during the day between feeds and at night up to 5 hours. When he eats it is between 15 to 20 minutes, but sometimes I have to keep waking him up to eat. Sometimes during the day I can get him to stay awake for an hour before going back down for about 2 hours. Is this normal for 9 day old infant? He was weighed yesterday and he is back up over his birth weight. Did anyone else experience this? I am concerned that he is sleeping too much?

He may start to stay up longer and wake up for feedings in a few weeks.

Totally normal. Enjoy the time he's sleeping and try to get some sleep yourself!

Re: BTDT Moms, question about sleeping?

Thank you so much for your responses! I decided to wake him today after he hadn't eaten in 3 1/2 hours only because my boobs felt like they were going to explode He stayed awake for about 1 hour and back down he went.

Being a new mom is so nerve racking especially since I am all alone here. Thank you girls for your reassurance. I really appreciate it.
