Advice on if you can NEGOTIATE price at hall

Hi,
i AM new and am ADDICTED TO THIS SITE!! I just read that some girls were able to ask their hall to reduce 500 dollars or price per head.

How do you do this? I mean, do you just flat out ask for a lesser price? is there some sorta "right/proper" way to go about this?

thanks,
XTINA

you can ALWAYS haggle no matter what.
yes, just straight out ask if there's anyway they can reduce the price...(whether it be per head or one sum, its up to you)...but tell them up front, you're on a tight budget and if theyre willing to work with you, they'll tell you right there and then.

Re: Advice on if you can NEGOTIATE price at hall

I tried to negotiate at every hall I went to. After touring the hall and hearing the whole shpeel i would tell them that the price is a little over my budget but i luv their hall and i would ask the final question: "Is your price negotiable at all?" Everyone except for one hall said yes. Some places went down from $15-20 per head, most places threw in the viennese hour. Don't forget to negotiate again before you sign your contract... they will give you a final price, and then you will say, "oh wow, i really luv it hear but my parents will not agree to anything over $____ ." Say a price that is one or two thousand lower than their total. You can always mention that you are deciding between two halls and so and so is 20 dollars per plate lower than you and they are offering much more food...

Good luck with your planning. Congrats!

Re: Advice on if you can NEGOTIATE price at hall

We found that going backa 2nd time helped. and we said "you know we loved it it, and we brought our parents back to see it, but it's a little more.. than we cna afford and we can NOT gurantee more than X (the guarantee was the big problem>" and she told us she cuoulc lower the guarantee but the price would be higher, so we asked her to calculate it, and I guess they really wanted to book it because she made the price lower actually, and amount that equaled giving us the viennese for free, and she also threw in the pasta course. So we ended up with a MUCH lower minimum and viennese and pasta for free...
