How do you decide how many hotel rooms to book?
Hi ladies,How do you decide how many hotel rooms you need to book on your wedding night for guests?
In my case, my wedding is in NYC even though most of my guests are out on the island. . . .do you think I need to book enough rooms for just out of town guests, immediate family, and the bridal party, or should I book a lot more since people might not want to drive home to Long Island after the reception?
TIA!

Re: How do you decide how many hotel rooms to book?
Although all of our family & friends live on the island and could go home we found that alot of peopel wanted to stay. We booked 30 rooms and then our contact at the hotel would call us when the number got close & block off more rooms--all I had to do is guarantee 10 or else we would have to pay for themHope this helps

I am inviting 286. I am just about to send out hotel info to my guests w/ save the dates--already 10-15 rooms have been booked w/ just my family so we will see when the letters go out.

I thinks its safe to assume that anyone from out of state will want a hotel room. My parents asked around who would want a hotel room. Then we booked one extra just to be on the safe side. We have unti 3 days before the wedding to cancel any of the rooms.

I think we will have enough rooms. I blocked 25 for about 190 people.

I've invited 125 people and blocked off 25 rooms. So far 13 have been taken. It's a lot of my family, and some OOT.
