Spinoff to off white and ivory: Tux Dilema

We picked out the tuxes this weekend and they only have a white or ivory shirt for the groom. They don't have off white. So do I buy him an off white shirt to wear or can he wear the ivory? The tux rep said he cannot wear a white shirt it will make my dress look darker then off white. What do I do?

Also will have a shiny matching off white or ivory tie. Oh why do I have to be pale and order an off white dress?

i dont know. but my fh had a similar problem. My BM are wearing a cream/champagne color and they said that they cant match the color, only off white or ivory, and my dress is ivory. But i wasnt there so i dont know what the outcome was. he wants it to be a suprise...good luck

how different is the ivory from your dress? i thought you got it in ivory?

Kim, you really need to request a swatch of YOUR DRESS and compare what you need. I was absolutely positive the guys needed off-white with my dress, well after driving like a loon to Bay Ridge Bklyn and back to the Tux Shop two weeks before the wedding, they really needed the WHITE. I was shocked. Neither was an exact match but the off white was way to yellow for my dress, the guys would actually have looked dingy.
So please, GO GET A SWATCH before you make ANY DECISION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry, Kim!

I got a swatch of my dress and brought it to the tux place to put it up against the shirts. My dress was pearl (between white & ivory) because I'M so pale. We wound up getting a white shirt for him because the ivory was just too yellowish.

It is very different. No I ordered it in off white. Looks like white but not as white.

Sounds like you need the white then. It's very hard and caused me a lot of stupid stress!

Lisa and Denise - thank you so much. BTDT Brides are awesome. I will definitely get a swatch and bring to the place before I get nuts. And can someone tell me why I am worrying about this 6 months before the wedding? My heart was racing before thinking of getting the wrong shirt color...LOL

Don't worry, it'll all work out, the tux place really doesn't need to know the color for the boys until closer to the wedding.
