repost from BHB (sorry) pregnant BM dress question

One of my BMs is going to be approx. 7 months pregnant at the wedding. We were about to order the dresses. I asked the dress store what to do & they suggested that she buy the fabric and have a dress made that looks similar to the other dress. Has anyone done this before? Can you recommend a good seamstress? We thought they could just order a bigger dress and fit it around her belly (she's very small to begin with - like a size 6) But they said it would cost lots of $$$ (like $120 minimum for just the alterations & the dress is $150.)

HELP! I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. I know this has been done before. I just have no idea how to find a good seamstress.

it's a Bill Levkoff dress & he doesn't make maternity BM dresses.

I have heard of them asking you to buy extra fabric so they can enlarge the stomach with a panel, but I have never heard them say they will recreate a dress.
