Weight loss contest update

As some of you may remember, my friends and I put $100 in a pool and we have a contest until the end of April for Body Fat not pounds. I am really excited since this has motivated me to work out at least 5 times a week and watch what I eat. At the last weigh-in(we have had two- you need to lose at least 5 pounds to stay in and if you gain from any past weigh-in, its $20 penalty per pound) I had lost 7.4 pounds(my goal is 10). So I am really excited- it definately has helped since I have no willpower BUT I am very competitive.

Sorry so long but here is my question- I have been consistently exercising with free weights, cardio and power yoga, is there anything I can do in the last two weeks to increase muscle mass and lower my body fat?
I will also be PMS'ing at the weigh-in and fat test- anything I can do about the bloat weight?

Re: Weight loss contest update

How are you testing bodyfat %? Calipers? If so, are you/your firends doing it or is someone at the gym? Reason I ask is that the accuracy of calipers depends largely on the administrator, so try to be consistent at each test.

If you are interested in losing fat and gaining musclemass, you should check out www.bodyforlife.com. A few brides on here do body for life (me included) and its truly an amazing program. PM me if you have any questions, and good luck! That is one highs takes contest!

Re: Weight loss contest update

I don't normally post on this board, but I have the book 'Eating for Life' and I must say it's really good. I am contemplating trying Body For Life. But I wanted to share that Eating for Life has some really good recipies that are easy to make and taste good.

Re: Weight loss contest update

How heavy are you lifting? If you lift heavy and increase cardio, you'll definately gain more muscle and lose more fat. Just make sure to increase caloric intake a little bit too. Eat some carbs and protein shortly after you workout to help feed your muscle.

Also, change up your workouts. Incorporate different exercises and different training techniques (drop sets, pyramids, partials, etc.) You can read all about this stuff on the Muscle and Fitness website.

Good luck!

Re: Weight loss contest update

Christine! 7.5 pounds is awesome so far.

I am a weight lifting retard, but I do know lots about bloating. Avoid all salt for a few days before the weigh in, it will keep you from retaining water - and if you do feel really bloated, take some water pills the day before (diuretics - sp?) and they will eliminate some of the water weight.

Good Luck!
