Engagement gift thank you question

I'm sending out a thank-you note for an engagement gift from a couple that is friends with FI's mom. They got us a couple of our place settings. I've read that you should personalize thank you notes as much as possible, but should I really write 'Thank you for the place settings' (which I think might sound weird) or just 'Thank you for your generous engagement gift. We hope to see you soon' or something to that effect. I think I've met this woman before....

I would go with something somewhat general. I have found Verse It VERY helpful with Thank you wording!!

I actually would specify the gift - I always think it is nice to get a personalized thank you.

You can also say 'Thank you for the beautiful place settings' to make it sound nicer.

Aha, thank you for the beautiful place settings! Why didn't I think of that? Of course, I picked them out, so they should be beautiful.

You can also say: 'Thank you for the beautiful place settings, we look forward to sharing many meals with them'. Or something to that effect.

I would put thank you so much for your generous gift. It was thoughtful of you to buy us some of our china or placesettings or something along those lines. Sorry I had something in my head to say & it completely went out of my head.

You can say something like 'Thank you for the beautiful place settings, we look forward to using them. We look forward to seeing you at the wedding'.

say thank yopu for the gift- we will enjoy many wonderful meals on the new dishes- something corny like that

thank yous are hard to write but they are always very appreciated when they are personal
