Mask of Pregnancy

I have 6 weeks to go and I have developed this 'mask of pregnancy' I look like a freakin racoon!!! It looks like I left my sunglasses on and went tanning. I have a ring under my eyes of all brownish freckles. It takes me 15 minutes extra in my day to cover them up.

Am I the only one with this??? Does it ever go away???

Re: Mask of Pregnancy

It is called Melasma and it is very frequent with pregnancy. See a derm who can give you some treatment choices but beware that there is less you can do until you deliver. Sunscreen is extremely important to prevent it from getting worse. Good luck

Re: Mask of Pregnancy

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that the mask is due to a major vitamin deficiancy in your body. What does your OB say about this?

Re: Mask of Pregnancy

Yes, It has NOTHING to do with any type of vitamin deficiency.....it will lighten up after the baby is born. There is bleaching cream to use if it doesn't, but it will, I'm sure. Definitely use very high SPF, any type of tan on your face will make it much worse.
