Douglaston Manor vs. Roma View
Hi,I posted yesterday about getting close to booking Douglaston Manor for engagement party. I am getting concerned about hearing music from the next room, which is separated by a plastic wall.My room is the Terrace Room, next to banquet manager's offices. I called Roma View in Howard Beach this morning - they also have a room available, the price is a several dollars more for an party that is 1 hour less. Any input on either of these places I would greatly appreciate!!!!
Thanks!

Re: Douglaston Manor vs. Roma View
I've been to parties at both.. and I must say that Roma View is much better. The Douglaston Manor is very outdated, unless they've renovated.... but with Roma View the food and ambience is better... aside from it being on Cropssbay Blvd.

Re: Douglaston Manor vs. Roma View
I used to live accross the street from Roma View and although I have never been inside, it must be nicer than Douglaston Manor. I saw a wedding in progress there and was appalled!BTW, did you check out Stewart Manor Country Club? It's supposed to be really reasonable. Another place that gets raves and is cheap is the Knights of Columbus in Oceanside, LI.
Good luck!

Re: Douglaston Manor vs. Roma View
I am new here, been spending my time on weddingchannel.com until my friend Sam harassed me to check out this site. Love it.Did you book your place? I looked about both the Douglaston and Roma when searching....I booked the Douglaston Manor...the Glass Room...the one you are worried about. LOL
I just loved the view overlooking the grounds from the room. I am worried because we are getting married in the outdoor gazebo. The ceremony will be at 5:30 on a Saturday in September. I am worried that golfers will be teeing off nearby...which would be a distraction. Chris (the Maitre D) promises that by that time the golfers are further into the grounds.
Has anyone been there for a ceremony around this time of day? Can you hear/see the golfers?? Please let me know. Thanks!!!

Re: Douglaston Manor vs. Roma View
I'm having my engagement party at Roma View on Friday. My cousin and uncle had their parties there and we had a great time. The food is wonderful and the staff is great. I've never been to Douglaston Manor so I really can't compare. If you have any specific questions you want me to answer just let me know!

Re: Douglaston Manor vs. Roma View
I had my engagement party at Roma View and it was great- I got a lot of raves about the food and the place. I havent been to Doug Manor but from what I hear- in terms of style they are very different places. Roma View is marble and modern. I will see if I have any pics that show the room. The big room where I had my party has big windows accross the back wall where you see the bay (ok isnt the best view- but better than just 4 walls). I will add pics if I have!edited with pics-
the first is of the sweetheart table and the view from the big room in the background and the second pic is of one of my tables and you can kind of see the wall and the light and stuff. all my other pics are of people and u cant really see the room.

I cannot comment on Douglson Manor, but i have been to Roma View numerous times for many different affairs (christenings, e-parties, showers, anniversaries, sweet 16s) and they always do a great affair!!! Their food is dependable.

Hi,I'm new to liweddings and noticed that you'll be getting married at douglaston manor. I am considering the location for my wedding. I went to see it on sunday and the place looks really good with the new renovations. I was wondering if you tasted their food and what you thought of it and just your experience so far with them. Any advice would be extremely helpful.
thanks and congrats on your wedding!
