What's the best baseball game you went to and why?

We went to Baltimore cuz I am a big Cal Ripken fan... they were playing the Yankees so we went up for a weekend trip. We get to the stadium and I noticed right away Cal's name wasn't in the lineup! We went to the game where he BROKE the streak after traveling there to see him! It was such an incredible experience though, and a big part of baseball history.

I also went to three of the games during his retirement which were pretty cool. Standing ovations every time!

I've been to so many amazing baseball games, but hands down the best was the 4th game of the World Series in 2001

First of all, it was so emotional because of 9/11 and all that NY had been through. Everyone was so nervous and on edge, and just so overwhelming sad. But somehow baseball seemed so uplifting and 'right' .. I can remember how it really captured everyone's hearts that year

President Bush threw out the first pitch.. and like him or hate him, it was a spine chilling moment (IMO)

Lastly - it was an absolutely electrifying game!! Yankees come from behind, the whole 9 yards... one of those games you can definitely call a 'classic'

Bottom of the 9th inning, Tino up at the plate - 2 run homer... TIED GAME

10th inning... Jeter at the plate. BAM, HOME RUN...

The Yankees win .. THEeEeEeEeEeE YANKEEES WIN

I have NEVER FELT the STADIUM Shake the way it did that night - NEVER . IT was the best experience of my life, and I can smile and cry just thinking about it

Even though the Yankees went on to lose the WS to the Diamondbacks it was still the most amazing time at a game I EVER had on SO many levels.

My friends and I STILL talk about the game as if it were yestserday... hands down, the best game I've ever been lucky enough to attend!

don't jump on me, i am responding to this only because the question was what was the best 'baseball' game you've been to

i would say fireworks night at shea about 6 years ago

mets were down, 2 out bottom of the 8th, the score was 8-0. Everyone was forced to watch this beating cuz it was fireworks night.

They scored 11 runs in the bottom of the 8th, capped off by a piazza three run homer

we also went to a game last year, where they were down 4-0 in the 9th, and came from behind to win 5-4.

OMG DON -- ANTHONY was at that game too!! He always tries to go to fireworks nights, but this one is one game he ALWAYS talks about

HE and his brother alwyas talk about it and say it was the BEST METS GAME they ever went to ...

Oy vey, you and Anthony would have a field day then

He and his brother and their 2 friends will go into EVERY LITTLE DETAIL about that game as if it were yestrday... I didn't even KNOW Anthony back then, yet I've heard the story so many times that I feel like I was there myself

Mine was May 17th...my 23rd b-day...Had semi good seats..moved to seats right near first base, Met Tino, and didnt get kicked out of the most awesome seats in the house! LOL

Would have added one, felt guilty but adding anyway, even though it wasnt MY best game..but my ex and I were at the 2001 world series and he caught a home run ball ( grabbed it from the guy behind us really)by I think ( I know HORRIBLE Yankee fan, forgets WHO it was) BErnie Williams...It ended in a bad night ( hence the ex thing) but it was great.
p.s We were on ESPN in a blurb for like 2 sec's..mostly him, but There was my head in it!

I can't really think of one. Except the time during Senior Week when I went with a bunch of my friends before we graduated, that was cool. Too bad the Yanks lost tho! But it was still fun. Altho another time my boss gave me free tix, that was great! I'd love to go to a Subway Series with my FI cause he's a Mets fan (originally from Queens so he can't help it), I can't change him.

We were probably at the same game, Donna .. I was at Games 4 and 5 of the WS games in 2001

I wasn't with an ex.. I went with my crazy girlfriends.. but I WAS single back then and I'm telling ya being a group of ladies at a Yankee game is THE WAY to meet men

FH and I went to the game last summer in Boston where arod got in the fight with pedro martinez and everyone went onto the field. we were sitting in like the 15th row right behind home plate. it was totally amazing, I was standing on my chair and everyone was screaming their heads off!! It sucked that the yanks lost, and we had to drive home that same night because we couldnt go anywhere in public with all our yankee gear on!!!!!!!!

David Cone's perfect game in 1999
Game 5 of the 2001 World Series when they tied it in the 9th on Scott Brosius home run & went on to win in 12 innings.....doesn't get any better!!
