Re: Best way to pack clothes for moving?
hmm, I actually pack them into suitcases, but I would think boxes might mean less cleaning & ironing after. Bags might make things kinda messy.

Go to the 99 cents store!! They have these huge strong bags with handles and zippers - you can load like a whole summer wardrobe in them and you can tote them around. We went and bought ten of them just to start consdensing everything.
If you can't find them I'll tell you which 99 cent store I found them in...they are so useful for transporting as well as storing.

Re: Best way to pack clothes for moving?
seriously, for the stuff that i had on hangers, i just made a whole in the (bottom) of the garbage bag, put the hooks of the hangers through it, and tied a knot in the bottom... saved soooooooooo much time and energy (and then just hung it right up in my new closet). it sounds like Ghetto packing, but its the most logical way to do it, imo

I second these...DH and I moved all of our clothes in these bags...they are strong and hold A LOT of stuff.

I already have a couple of these and it wouldn't have occured to me to use them for packing- we use them for laundry. I wouldn't have thought to use them for clothes! Thanks!

The last two times I moved I just went to different units in my building (have lived in 3 and I am convinced it's a record!) and I rocked the ghetto packing strategy!

For stuff hanging in the closet, if you have movers they'll bring you wardrobe boxes. You can also buy these at the Uhaul store.

I've moved 11 times...most recently 3 weeks ago and this truly is the best way to do it IMO. I used clear garbage bags so I could see what was in them so when I put my clothes in my new closet everything was already organzied. 3 weeks later it's also the ONLY thing organized.
