Wow!! Since I Dislike My New Job so much

think I can make it to 5,000 posts today?

I've been online since I walked in and NO ONE CARES!! No one is teaching me anything - I've read the manual 10x already - I heard it gets 10x more boring than it is right now!!

I'm 99% leaving - have to check out an alternate job possibility beginning of next week

It's a job at a university as an advisor - it's a field that I have experience in, but do not want to be in this job and am really just waiting to get a perm guidance job. It's adult advisement though not typical student advisement and that has never really been an area of interest for me. I'm in a small office without a window, I am the only adviser here five days a week because the others go to differnet campuses - this is my second day and i've read the handbook 10 x already. The grad assistant told me how miserably dead it is here in the summer and I do not want to waste my summer being miserable here - i'm so conflicted though - i can most likely go back to the school where I just finished my leave replacement on Monday and I am going to call them on Mondayafter vacation and see.
Sorry for venting - just dont know what to do.

You have to go with your gut instinct...if you're not happy and will most like not be happy then leave girl! Did you like your old job?

I loved my old job - unfortunately, it was temporary. It was a leave replacement guidance position at a high school - guidance is my field and I have been looking for a perm job for a long time!!
Prior to that, I worked on the university level for over five years - but really busy offices with heavy student contact. This is so dead and boring in here.
I just feel so guilty - my husband supports me leaving because he says he doesnt want me to be miserable because that will affect the both of us - but I don't want to be a quitter.

That's a tough call. I know the feeling. Try to stick it out for as long as you possibly can and in the mean time I guess post your resume everywhere.

I know how horrible a slow, dead office can be. It sounds like you are miserable there. Like others said, try to stick it out as long as you can---see what else is out there---Good luck!!!!
