I have a sticky situation I need advice on re: wedding gift

We have really really nice next door neighboors who we dont really see that often in the winter but see them alot during the summer b/c our yards are kind of connected. It is his first marriage but her second. DH is very very friendly with this guy whenever they do see eachother. And are in similar types of work and even got DH a temp. job once while he was unemployed.
Well I feel sooooooo horrible but I sent them an std over the summer ( when we were seeing them everyday) and then totally forgot to send them an invitation I feel sooooooooooooooooooo horrible about it and apologized when I saw them. The seemed ok with it and laughed it off.
Anyway they are getting married next month and invited my MIL, FIL, & BIL to the wedding but not us. Ok I understand no big deal. BUT I would still like to send them a gift. They are not registered anywhere ( she does not have any family so I guess no one threw her a bridal shower) my MIL is not going but sending them a cash gift instead. I really dont want to send cash b/c then I think it looks like I am asking for a gift in a way
What can I send them??? Should I send it before the wedding or after as a 'Congratulations' ????

Re: I have a sticky situation I need advice on re: wedding gift

Well, if she was married before she most likely had a shower and probably has all of the standard wedding gifts.

Have they had the house for long? Maybe something for the house?

Hmmm? I'm getting really tired and might have to sleep on this one.

BTW: Maxine, I was just on your review trying to find a copy of your menu for inspiration for mine. Everything about your wedding was beautiful. Sorry for hijacking.

Re: I have a sticky situation I need advice on re: wedding gift

Maybe a GC from Home Depot for when they move into their new house. Once you buy a house you realize you need so many house related things... garbage pails, barbecue, tools, sprinkler, hoses.

Maybe a GC to Ticketmaster and they can go to a show? Or is that too much like money?

I only have 67 days to go. would you like to take over my planning ?
