What she did to her friends and family was horrible and she should feel overwhelming guilt towards them.. as for jail time, no I do not think that should happen. What she did was awful, yes, but from what I have read was not planned.. all of it became too overwhelming for her. She needs help, they should send her to therapy.

I like the community service idea. She needs to realize that the community put time and effort into looking for her she needs to pay that back.

I think there has to be some penalty but she shouldn't go to jail. Not only did she drive her family crazy with worry but she also wasted alot of time of cops and detectives that could have been working on real crimes. But I do feel bad for her too- she must have been really distraught to run away like that.

At least community service. It soooo screwed up that she wasted all those people's energy. They could have been looking for other missing people instead!

I think she should make a public apology to the town, or suffer a fine. She needs to face all of the people that were affected by what she did.

I agree. You cannot truly fault her for flipping out especially if she is unstable. But making a public statement would be appropriate.

Absolutely she should be charged!! She's a jack a$$ and she knew what she did. I believe she was very well aware of what she was doing and the emotional stress and time and money wasted in the effort to find her? That time should be going to catching killers and rapists- not finding this person.
I could go on and on....

I think she should be charged. She misled the police and other law enforcement. She staged a crime.

First she made her FI, family, and the entire town (not to mention the rest of the country) absolutey crazy with worry while looking for her. But then she had the audacity to lie and say that she was kidnapped!!! I think she def needs some serious psychological help, and some punishment for what she did. I mean, who has 600 guests and 14 BM and GM anyway? No wonder she was stressed!!! And they're still gonna get married, just postponed the wedding. My FI said he wouldn't marry me after pulling a stunt like that, way too unstable!

Yes I think so! She gave descriptions of men who 'kidnapped' her! That is so wrong! Some innocent men could have been arrested.

She needs to go to jail at least for a month! If she would have never gave descriptions then I would say no.

I think whatever time/$$$ was spent on looking for her is what she should be responsible for.

She should have to do heavy community service and pay a hefty fine.

All the time, energy and worry that was wasted on her is an absolute shame.

Thats a really good idea...doesn't look like the authorities are letting her off like they first said

charged!! no doubt in my mind. she lead the authorities on a wild goose chase and caused her loved ones unecessary hurt. and she needs psychological help

Now they are saying she might have purchased the bus ticket a week before.... if that is the case, then it was planned and she knew EXACTLY what she was doing, not freaking out and making a spur of the moment decision. If she planned this whole thing out she should be charged somehow.

I agree - filing a false police report is a serious crime! Not only did she cause pain to her friends and family she led to a massive hunt with hundreds of concerned volunteers - she could have notified atleast one person!! Also she led the police searching for a vehicle and description of a man that could have led to an innocent arrest and slandering!! She needs to learn that this behaviour is not acceptable!!
