What a day! (NWR- vent)

I had a horrible day today...

I would say about 1/3 of my students decided not to do their homework and thought nothing of it. About 40 kids... unbelieveable!

One kid (not in my class, luckily) got upset and threatened to throw himself out a window during class. Thank God it didn't open!

Kids have spring fever! THEYRE NUTS!!

Tired of parents making excuses for the kids and what they don't do. Waiting for a nasty phone call tomorrow I am going to have to bite my tongue big time.

I need a mental health day and a stiff drink!!

Hopefully tomorrow will be better!
I know what you mean about spring fever in the kids - by this time of the year, their brain is already on summer vacation!!

What grade do you teach?

Re: What a day! (NWR- vent)

I am so sorry you had a rough day. I can totally sympathize. Most of my kids decided to take an extra day of vacation and not come today. Hey, I can't I do that. I know what you mean about parents making excuses. Seems everything else is more important than school these days.

Re: What a day! (NWR- vent)

yikes! oh jeeze and on a monday too!

My suggestion- fix yourself a nice drink, turn off the lights, and watch either a tearjerker or the funniest movie ever!

It worked for me last night...that and some snuggles with PJ!

I hope it gets better for you....IM me if you need to let it out later!

5th and 6th graders...

As much as I love a drink we have precana tonight and the topic is chemical dependence and natural family planning I don't think the stench of alcohol would go over well!

As a teacher of ten years the same thing happens in my room and I teach AP. AP kids are not doing their homework, it's ridiculous.

My students are taking the AP test tomorrow and they think they are prepared. I gave them all the review assignments but most of them went away over break and several of them are in sports tonight. Why are the coaches making them play when they have a major test for college credit in the morning?

Whatever, 38 more days of classes.

Just keep thinking... July and August, July and August

sounds a lot like my day too... only switch the parts that have 'kids' for patients and
'parents' for patient's kids...

( i work on a geriatric psychiatry unit )

Unfortunately, I think a lot of the problem is parents who don't take enough time to go over their children's work.
