Buying First Home & Relocating-- Any good resources??

Now that we are married, we can focus on our next project- buying a home. DH and I are actually looking to relocate to Atlanta-- so, it is not as easy for us to jump into buying a home.

I figure the best course of action is to educate ourselves as much as possible regarding mortgages, what we can afford, etc.

Any useful tips, books, seminars, etc.- please pass them along!

I just ordered Mortgages for Dummies and HOme Buying for Dummies-- so, beyond reading up on these subject, what else can we do?

I would read guidebooks about the area. Stuff to do, restaurants, etc. Browse the local newspapers for jobs, schools (if you are planning on having kids there), etc.

We actually have friends moving there- and the wife grew up there... so we have insider info and have already targeted a neighborhood-- just feeling overwhelmed with the kind of timing, and what to do first- find a job or look for a house-- and our lease is up in nov- so I feel like we need to act now..
