Re: Ice cream Wedding cake

I doubt it is possible, b/c your cake is out on display for the entire reception until you cut it. Not to mention they take awhile to put together, so the bottom would start to melt before they finished the top.

Re: Ice cream Wedding cake

AN ice cream cake is a great idea and there are several places that makes them. We were going to have one but our RH already serves a scoop of ice cream with the cake. Good luck!!

The grooms cake at a Fox Hollow wedding I attended in 2002 was an ice cream cake. It was a big hit. It was served with the wedding cake.

never thought about that. my FH's son is turning 13 a few days after the wedding so we decided to get him a b-day cake that day, too, and have everyone sing (everyone should be embarrassed on their 13th!!!) so i wanted to get a football carvel cake. but maybe since his doesn't ahve to be on display, it will last ....

Re: Ice cream Wedding cake

That's so funny that you said that. As soon a FI and got engaged we both said we wanted and ice cream wedding cake!! Unfortunately, we aren't getting one though My hall provides the cake, and we really didn't want to spend the extra money on an ice cream cake. But I still think its a great idea, and if you want one, go for it!!

Re: Ice cream Wedding cake

We said that we wanted and Ice Cream cake the Bm told us that its hard to do and it would melt. So we are going to have the grooms cake as the Ice cream cake, the Bm said that he would get it.

We're having an ice cream cake.

I really don't think you absolutely HAVE to keep the cake out the whole time. Really and truly, how many people look at it before you cut it anyway. If you freeze it really well, it will take about 15 to 20 minutes to soften a bit anyway. If you're going to do tiers, I wouldn't go above two or three.
