Question for Interfaith (Catholic/Jewish) couples.
Did the Catholic partner get special dispensation from the Church for your Interfaith ceremony? I want to do this, however, I'm wondering how difficult it is and/or how long a process it is!
I know the other option is to not apply for dispensation but then our marriage will be only 'approved' by the Church, but not recognized.
Question for Interfaith (Catholic/Jewish) coup
My first marriage was an Interfaith. The priest got a dispensation because he married us and the rabbi just blessed us.

Question for Interfaith (Catholic/Jewish) coup
I'm Jewish and my now-husband is Catholic. We had an interesting situation, because he's from Massachusetts, and I'm from New York, and the wedding was in New York. He had to get a dispensation from his church to marry out of the faith, and the priest had to get a dispensation to perform the wedding because it was not Mark's residence. But, we had three ceremonies on our wedding day - the first, main ceremony, was a civil ceremony, for all of our guests, was presided over by a judge (we had a lot of older Jewish relatives who would be uncomfortable with seeing an interfaith ceremony). Then, during the cocktail hour, we had two small, private cermonies - one Catholic ceremony with the priest, my husband and I, and his parents, and then a Jewish ceremony with the rabbi, my husband and I, and my parents and brother. It was really quite beautiful, and incredibly meaningful, because each of the religious ceremonies was more religious in nature because they were purely in their own religion. Plus, believe it or not, we really enjoyed saying our vows three times that day. It was beautiful, and touching. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
Should be no problem with any of your vendors. We all carry insurance. Most of the halls require it, so anyone working anywhere would have to be insured. Sometimes they really hassle us even if we've worked there before (they should have our policy on file) (Eastwind is not one to give them a hard time.) It's a rather simple policy and not at all expensive. Don't worry, we're used to it.
First, 1-800-Flowers has just been an absolute disappointment nearly everytime we've ordered from them. The first time, the flowers were great, but the several times after that, the flowers have been awful. My fiance would send me roses for various reasons, birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine's Day, etc. and the roses never made it more than a few days. Of course, some would hold out longer than others. Once, I took them up on their satisfaction guarantee, which states something like '7 day freshness.' Well, at the end of the seven days, I called and told them the flowers didn't make it seven days, that some started dying the very next day. They told me I was supposed to call before the end of the seventh day!! We finally stopped ordering from them since they couldn't send roses that would carry out the week. I'm sorry, but spending $80 and not getting the week is a HUGE deal to me.
