Spinoff to Catholic Bride Question..for those that DID have a full mass...

Can just you and FH receive communion, or do they HAVE to offer it to the entire congregation?

I have non-catholics that will be tehre that I don't want to make feel awkward. Most importantly my step-mom is southern baptist and has already expressed concern about not knowing what 'to do' during the ceremony (stand up-sit down-kneel).

Yes,it can be for just the 2 of you. But, it's very unusual to have it done that way.

Don't worry about the non-Catholics. I would say that half of our guests (as well as half the bridal party) was not Catholic and everyone was just fine!

you can probably have just the two of you, but unless your bridal party's standing at the front, i don't think you need to. people will go up if they want to receive communion and won't if they don't. many of friends are not catholic and although they won't be coming up for communion, they've assured me that it's not offensive that they can't - they'll just skip it.

I was just at a full Catholic mass wedding last weekend. I'm Jewish, and had no problem sitting and waiting while all the other guests received communion. Seriously, I don't see why it should make them feel uncomfortable if I was okay with it.
