NEWLYWEDS: Final meeting with catering hall. QUESTIONS?

What questions should I be asking?

Anything in particular I should pay attention to, ask, request?

Does anyone have a 'master checklist'?

We are chosing our menu selections, giving approximate #'s, vendor info, etc.

My meeting is Thursday.

TIA

Re: NEWLYWEDS: Final meeting with catering hall. QUESTIONS?

Before you go

#1 make sure to go over your contract at home - look at what you are receving, write down any questions you have. (waitstaff per table, number of bartenders, number of bars, champagne toast, candles allowed, etc, etc, etc)

#2 look at your menu, try to pick out some stuff you want (especially cocktail hour), again write down any questions you have (re: extra's, pricing, what you want to negotiate)

#3 Don't give them an approximate number yet. If you think you are having 200 guests tell them 175 for now. You don't want to deal with any expectations on their part.

#4 Think about how you want your room to look like - picking out table linens, etc ...

It just makes it easier when you sit down with the BM. It was so exciting and I'm glad I didn't have to pick everything 'on the spot' - it can be overwhelming.

Re: NEWLYWEDS: Final meeting with catering hall. QUESTIONS?

Thanks,

Yes I was going to pick out our menu now. We are probably not goig to cover our minimum, just shy, that's ok with me we are paying a low pp and there is no one else I want to come.

I was going to ask to cut the cake earlier in the party. My friend did that. She took the picture and wasn't so worried about dancing and not looking as fresh. It also allows them to serve the cake right away after dinner.

I was also thinking of asking them to close the curtains and dim the lights right after the salad because it is a daytime wedding and I'd like to get people in a party mood.

A few handicapped resrved seating tables at the cocktail hour for my dad and elderly guests.

Any other details I should be mindful of?

The only thing I can add from my own experience is to make sure everything in that contract is clearly written! Also, make sure you know who will be in charge at your wedding.
