Budget ?'s - How much to save for TIPS? arghh...
By the day of, I'm going to be down to my last penny probably!!!Anyone have an itemized breakdown ?

I have a friend who is married and in the wedding industry and thought who better to ask than someone on both ends of the spectrum.Well, I was very surprised by her answer!!
She said that she didn't tip anyone aside for the limo driver and the BM.
She said that unless a vendor goes COMPLETELY overboard and does a job so good that it left you stunned, tipping isn't necessary. Of course vendors would probably argue that (lol)
they way she rationalized it was that we are paying such a high premium because of the word WEDDING to begin with, that she thinks it's not necessary to tip.
Again, that was her advice to me. I'm not sure if I will take it. But I thought I would pass it along.

I've been trying to figure this out and here's what I've figured:Photo / Video - Silverfox recommends recommends $100-$200 per person
Flowers - Delivery $25
Band - $50-$100 per member?
Church - $25 per altar boy
Venue - Recommends $3-$5 per guest for Maitre d' and $100 for bridal attendant
Limo - Our 20% gratuity is in our cost but I'll probably still give $50 per driver.
Hopefully, that's all! LIWeddings girls, we're pros now - I think we're in the wrong business! We should start a wedding planning company with all our knowledge

I hope you don't mind me saying this...but OMG!!! with the exception of the Maitre D and the limos, those tips are VERY high! of course the photo studio is going to tell you what they think you should tip - IMO that is a LOT! And $50-$100 per band member is also high (IMO)

I don't mind you saying, in fact, it's music to my ears. I'm trying to figure out what other Silverfox gave, since I thought that was steep too. And band members, I was basing on suggestions from past brides. I hope I'm guestimating too much!

I think you're very generous! if I was to 'guess-timate' I think $50-$75 for the photographer is plenty and IMO, tipping the band is not necessary. Bands cost $5000-$15K and up... I think that's enough money.

OK, this is whaI have written down...ugh!Maitre 'D - $400 (my hall said 'recommended' is $500-600 - but I only have 100 guests!)
Bridal Attendant - $50 each = $100
Limos - $50 each = $100
DJ - $100 MC, $50 DJ, $50 Percussionist
Video - $100
Photo - $100 each = $200
Someone, please tell me I'm overestimating!

great post..i need to know too...i just called my hall today because i thought the matre d..was included...NOT!!! what about makeup and hair...do you tip them even if they work for themselves?

This is what I am doing50- limo driver
100 per photographer- only because they still have to print my pics and I don't want them pissed.
25-30 per band member and I have ten!
No maitre de tip- he told me not necessary and he is the only guy that works there. But I am getting him a nice bottle of wine.
No bridal manager- so no tip!
$500 on top of my %15 gratutity to the hall since they didn't include a service charge or tax and it goes straight to the staff of students that work there. I plan on being generous here BECAUSE it wasn't expected.
Gifts for my hairdresser and makeup artist
and day of coordinator
Total- total about $1000

i have a day of coordinator and she gave me recommendations on tipping --i thought they were very very high --for example --she said i should tip the head photographers $200 each and the assistants $100 each. she also said the video person should get $200...she said i should tip my banquet manager $500! what else --oh she said each band member should get $50...Welcome New Vendors
