Bridal Showers
My beautiful daughter is getting married in Feb. 2006 and I need some info on what the traditions are for the shower as far as today's standards....for example...where, price, who pays, presents...etc...Things have changed since I got married in '75.....so please HELP! Thanks.

Re: Bridal Showers
Not really etiquette, but usually the Mother of the bride and the bridal party all chip in for the expenses. Depending on budget and guest list, you can either host it in someones house/backyard or a restaurant. The bridal party will chip in on one big gift, while the mother of the bride will get a seperate gift. Nothing is set in stone though.

Re: Bridal Showers
Ive been to all different showers from mom doing all to BMs doing all. It can be at your home, for smaller parties, or at any restaurant. There are about a zillion places on LI that have rooms for showers. Do you have an area in mind? If so, put out a post on that too.

Re: Bridal Showers
for mine and my sisters bridal showers my mom didn't chip in a penny.for my sister's shower it was only me (i was her MOH) paying so i had it at a friends house since my apartment is too small. I bought a big hero, made lasagna.. and tons of appetizer/snack foods and we played games and opened gifts and just chatted.
for my shower my sister (matron of honor) and best friend (maid of honor) chipped in and had it at a restaurant. I didn't want them to spend a lot of money so we had it at a chinese buffest (in islandia). we still had games, chatted, ate, and opened gifts.

My shower was at the same place - and it was hosted by my sister/MOH. It was very nice and had a good selection of food for everyone.
I don't think there is any standards, just have some good food, good friends and family and have a great time!!!
It goes so fast too

Re: Bridal Showers
My mom is paying for it. My MOH is my best friend, I don't want her to have that expense, she pregnant and due next month. She'll have her own expenses to worry about. I'm only have one bridesmaid (FSIL) and I don't want her to have that responsiblity. But I'm helping her, she lives out of state, so I have to know when it is, since she'll be staying with me!
