Has anyone interviewed for a job at their current place of employment...

...not get it and then meet the person who DID get the job?? I just had lunch with the girl who got the position that I interviewed for and what a whackjob!!!!! I don't know WHAT They're thinking, but I really believe that she's just all wrong for the job...and it's not just sour grapes!!!

yes, and oh how I wish I had her position and not the one I got let go from.

She was the intern in the dept where she got hired. The one editor wanted to hire me but the other thought they should hire the intern because they knew her and her work ethic. She got into the 3 person imprint and got all of the fun, cool work and now is a full fledged editor. I got crappy work in a 30 person imprint, got lost in the crowd, only got one promotion and got downsized in March

I won't say the other person wasn't qualified, but she is somewhat pretentious and full of herself.

Not in my current job but in a past place of employment. It was actually for a higher position within the same department and I was certain I was going to get the job. Turns out I didn't get it, someone from a different department got it and to boot, I found out that I did NOT get the job when they made the announcement about the new person....&%$# , No letter, no courtesy call...NOTHING!

It was uncomfortable for a while because it was obvious that I knew more about the department and I pretty much trained the moron. Eventually things worked out and I got promoted and then I left that place.
