fun places on Long Island

My birthday is next Sunday and I'm looking to go somewhere fun. I had jaw surgery 5 weeks ago and my mouth has been wired shut for 5 weeks so I've been pretty down. Plus my sister, brother and father will all be away for my birthday. I was thinking the bronx zoo. Any other ideas?

Re: fun places on Long Island

You could go out to the NY Botanical Gardens--I'm sure they look beautiful this time of year--its right by the Bronx Zoo. You could also take a trip and roller blade through Prospect Park in Brooklyn--one of NYCs 'forgotten' parks. OR, for something closer, you can put on your kiddie clothes and go to Adventureland! :)

Re: fun places on Long Island

Hmm, do you like to be active? You could go bicycling or canoeing, that's something fun to do together. Plus, it's good exercise!

If it were me, I would do a day spa. The whole package: massage, facial, mani, pedi, lunch, etc. You deserve it!

You could go to the outlets and then wonder around Riverhead. You could go to the aquarium in Riverhead as well. Greenport is a great town to walk around and eat in.

Re: fun places on Long Island

I had to grin when i read this..i work for oral surgeons that do orthognathic surgery. The zoo seems like a good idea...the last thing you need is to go someplace where you could potentially hurt your healing face. You could walk around Old westbury gardens...if you don't have allergies it probably looks beautiful now.
