Question about changing date with Reception Hall
This is a hypothetical question.Let’s say you change the date of your wedding. Same hall, just different date. I know some halls say that you incur a charge if your date is not rebooked. Is this ALWAYS the case? And why should I incur a charge if all I am doing is changing the date, not leaving the hall altogether?!?!
I have been contemplating (more like just wondering, half seriously) about changing our date, but we are currently getting married on a Thursday and afraid that IF we did change the date our current date will not get booked b/c it IS a Thursday.
Any girls out there who HAVE changed their dates, can you tell me what, if any charges you incurred!! TIA!!

Re: Question about changing date with Reception Hall
I inquired about changing the date at my hall, North Ritz (but decided in the end not to change it). But I know that they weren't going to charge me anything if they didn't rebook the day. It's not like you're leaving the hall altogether. Good luck with your decision!PS - my brother was married on a Thursday night at the Plaza Hotel in NYC. My sister-in-law had her heart set on having their wedding there and the only way it was semi-reasonable was to do it on a Thursday. Almost EVERYONE went, so I wouldn't have any qualms about your day!!! Good luck and best wishes!!!!

Thanks! Especially for the last part! I have my moments when I question having a Thursday. Overall, I am not THAT concerned.

Re: Question about changing date with Reception Hall
I dont know. Luckily it is a year away. I would talk with your Banquet Manager and just ask. I lost my $1,000 deposit with JT. I booked then and one month later I decided not to go with them and didnt get my $$ back. It is a different situation, but just ask.

Re: Question about changing date with Reception Hall
I'm most liley changing with NRC. I think as lng as you give them enough time they won't give you a problem. Also because it's a thursday I don't know if the rebooking thing would even apply because Idon't think they expect to book every thursday night. Also, I thinkthey'll be more than happy you're upgrading!

Re: Question about changing date with Reception Hall
Hey Jill! I don't think there's a penalty for changing the date, as long as you book with them. I believe when NYBride was in the process of cancelling they told her that they would apply her deposit toward another night, so she wouldn't lose it if she sttod with them, of course she failed to mention that. As far as your date - it's not just a 'Thursday', it's one before a major holiday and you're sending out STD's - people WILL COME! Don't stress...

Re: Question about changing date with Reception Hall
Yes, they offered to apply my deposit to another date. I was going from Sunday day late August to a Sunday day June or July which was sooner. So it actually would have worked out better for J.T.As I said before, The best thing to do, would be to ask them. Only they really know.
Good Luck, and as I said before I think being that it is a year in advance you shouldnt have a problem.

Re: Question about changing date with Reception Hall
I think charings the extra $7 was fair. It stinks but it's air. Most halls I looked at and heard about were $10 cheaper in Jan-MarchWelcome New Vendors
