Ok, now im getting a little bit overwhelmed with this planning

Is a cake server and cake topper mandatory things? Or is it just preference? These little things i never even thought of. I wonder how many other little things im missing. This wedding planning is getting somewhat stressful now. Too many things to think of.

and how many people since they got engaged have lost a few brain cells, especially at work? I feel like an airhead.

Nah - you don't *need* to get a cake topper. The cake server is easy--so many shops have those. Hang in there!

they're not mandatory at all. They just add a special touch. You can always put them on your registry and see if you get them as gifts.

Re: Ok, now im getting a little bit overwhelmed with this planning

I look back at the last two weeks prior to be wedding and how silly little things were causing me such anguish....like the cake server and toasting flutes.....

I called my reception place and asked if they had them and they said they di..so I decided not to buy my own.

Its personal taste, some girls like to have them but I decided it wasnt high up on my priority list.

To answer your question you do not NEED them but if you want them then go for it.

You will look back on this stage of the planning and how it makes even the most normal level headed person get crazy over silly little things. Its all part of the process and very normal..

Good luck and it will be over before you know it..

Re: Ok, now im getting a little bit overwhelmed with this planning

No, I'm having neither. The reception site should have a cake server (it may not be fancy, but it will work), and the topper is not necessary at all.

We're having a load of sugar flowers put on the top instead of a topper. Some people have real flower petals, or fruit put on the top also.

Do what you want--a lot of people will tell you you must have this or that. Really, this is your wedding, and you should do what is comfortable for you and what you can afford.

Re: Ok, now im getting a little bit overwhelmed with this planning

We didn't have toasting flutes, cake topper, cake server...etc..the hall provided the standard issue and I had a lot less headaches.

Re: Ok, now im getting a little bit overwhelmed with this planning

We only have a cake server because we got it as a gift when we first got engaged. Other than that, the hall will give us toasting glasses and we're putting flowers on our cake instead of a topper. I keep thinking what am I going to do with all this stuff after the wedding. Yeah, they're nice keepsakes, but really, how many keepsake items do I need?

Re: Ok, now im getting a little bit overwhelmed with this planning

not necessary, but i think a nice touch-and rememberance- you could register for them so that you get them as gifts

i got my flutes which i looooooooove as an engagment present and the cake server and knife too- i am not doing a cake topper cause i dont like them, will put flowers

dont stress out- you still have time too-enjoy the planning

no, you don't *need* them. i am using a cake topper b/c i got it as an enegagement gift. it fits my theme of precious moments and is a music box as well, so we can display it afterthe wedding.

Re: Ok, now im getting a little bit overwhelmed with this planning

totally optional---I am having a cake topper because I love the lenox one but there are lots of things that i am not even interested in doing.....for example, no guest book.
