MY Shower was Saturday- SOME GREAT TIPS FOR FUTURE BRIDES/MOH

So Saturday was my shower. I figured it out earlier weeks ago because the excuse to get me to my MIL's was 'Your future SIL (who lives in MA with her husband and two active kids) can't find a dress to wear to the wedding so she's coming down to NY. Do you want to go dress shopping with us?' Come on, how dumb do I look?

As I've said before my MOH is my only bridal party member and my mom is deceased so my MOH and FMIL had all of the work. My MOH lives out of state, has a baby and a new house so $$$$ is tight. She has been a part time day of coordinator for three years now and everyone except me is married (mid thirties) so we've learned a lot of the short cuts, tricks and pitfalls.

They did a great job. It's so surreal to see your world's collide and see work people, family and friends all in the same room together.

Some highlights:

1. MY FSIL who has three kids, a full time job as a professor flew out from WISCONSIN just for my shower. I was shocked as FH and I have only been dating a little over two years. This was the best surprise.

2. MY MOH gave me an 'around the house' series of gifts. One box for EVERY room.
Office- my pre-addressed thank you notes. I just had to write them- THIS IS GREAT IDEA FOR ANY OF YOUR WHO ARE BRIDESMAIDS to do as a gift for the bride.
Diningroom- my formal tablecloths and napkins
Kitchen- my everyday silverware and dishtowels
Livingroom- photo album
Bathroom- a travel hanging toiletry bag from LL Bean filled with trial sizes- THIS IS ANOTHER GREAT GIFT IDEA- the bride can take on her honeymoon
Bedroom- cute nighty set, just marrried underwear and just married socks (?)
She really went overboard, so generous.

3. My MOH had everyone write a 'First Anniversary' note to us. She collected them and is sending them to us in a year.

4. MY MOH asked everyone to bring a recipie but also bring an ingredient for that recipe. She put all of the recipes in a book and all of the various ingredients in a basket. Great idea especially if a recipe calls for a unique spice.

5. My FSIL made me a 'Tea for T' basket with fresh tea, lemons, raspberries, cinnamon sticks and all of the ingredients that they found printed on these cute glasses. They put all of that in a Party Tub.

I had a great time.

The first pic is of my FSIL, me, my FMIL, Future cousin-in-law, and FSIL #2.

Second my three best friends I've had for 21 years since high school.

Third, basket with ingredients for recipes.

Favors, heart shaped cookie-cutters with the recipe for a happy marriage.

The second are the pre-addressed thank you's with a stamper with our new name and adress on it to use after the wedding

There is one where I'm holding up a basket with my dress and cardigan on. I look like a Stepford Wife doing the laundry

That's so sweet of you to say. I wanted to peak in at your wedding but we will be arriving home from England the night before and I think I might be a bit 'brain drained'.
