Re: home owners insurance??

Ours was $1,500 with Travelers Every place I tried was around that or higher. They said it's because the house is so old. The replacement value we secured is 80% of the total cost of the house.

It's 100 years old. They also said that because it's close to the water, but not in a flood hazzard area, the premium is higher. I did get a slightly cheaper quote with State Farm but Travelers entire package was better and we have our auto with them so we got an extra discount.

Travelers quoted us $1700.

We got Met Life for $560 a year. But we also don't live on LI.

ETA- I forget how much it is in terms of replacement value.

That's funny, we got quoted either 1,600 or 1,800 from MetLife, depending on what package we went for - and I'm supposed to get a better deal through my job!
