Honoring a Dead dog?

My fh looks like he just got off a motocyle. He his 5'7', black goatee (spl), black trench coat, long sliver rings, you name it. When he first introduced me to his family, he told me he had a dog. Now I was expecting some large monster like creature, turns out it was a white toy poodle named Fluffy that he had since he was nine. Any way, the dog died a year go, and my fiance devasted. I painted a statue of a poodle all white and gave it too him. I was thinking, could the best man carry that statue down the aisle to the alter in memory of her? what do you guys think?

Re: Honoring a Dead dog?

I don't know about a statue. How about a pic of her next you your gift card holder? Or a small ceramic dog on top of your cake?

Re: Honoring a Dead dog?

I agree I think the statue is to much, A pic or mention of the dog is good.

Re: Honoring a Dead dog?

I wouldn't say a bit much. He loves that dog more than he loves his whole family. Its a small statue. I'm just worried it will look morbid.

Re: Honoring a Dead dog?

Maybe the statue could sit on the card/gift table? If you're having pictures of you or your families near the guestbook or seating cards that would also be a good place too.

You could dedicate your flowers, or write something in the program.

Re: Honoring a Dead dog?

Yeah the statue is a little too morbid IMO

Honestly this is a time for being happy and celebrating. Its about marriage not honoring dead pets. I understand how close people get with pets but this is a wedding not the dogs funeral - JMHO

Re: Honoring a Dead dog?

A picture is nicer. My cousin had an 8x10 pic of her chiuaua in a tux on her gift table, since he couldn't be at the wedding. You have an 8x10 pic on your table and that would look nice. Or, if you want, you can do a whole picture table of people no longer with you, and have the dog there with them.

Re: Honoring a Dead dog?

In all honesty, yes the statue of the dog is morbid. However, your wedding is the farthest thing from traditional and I really don't think that anyone will notice the statue after seeing your attire. So, if it truly means a lot to your FH and will make him happy not sad, then I by all means do it.

LOL so true! The groomsmen could be naked and people might not notice, so if you are concerned about an inappropriate statue I say go for it!

Re: Honoring a Dead dog?

I'm sorry to hear about the dog, but do not have him carry that statue. THere are other ways to honor someone/thing that you love. I know many people who have passed in my life, but I wouldn't carry a statue of them down the aisle.

Re: Honoring a Dead dog?

Would his best man even feel comfortable carrying the statue to begin with? I kind of feel like that would be awkward-JMO
