Mother Vent
I seriously think my mother needs medication. Apparently she sees no reason why she can't say whatever she wants. I had just had a talk with FH as to his behavior lately around my mother...it's bordering on rude (not that at times my mother doesn't deserve it) and so I told him that just because she's rude doesn't give him the right to stoop to her level and the only one that gets hurt in the end is me....WELL.....my mother has a bee in her bonnet with regard to FMIL and her 'cheap' ways to which my mother has to go and make a comment to FH....'So....I hear that your mother is getting you blue towels for the bathroom...what is she thinking? And what's this with the pot set that she's thinking about not giving you? I really think you need to sit down and talk to her...didn't she ever hear of a registry? Why doesn't she go into the store and BUY something instead of rummaging through the attic for leftover ****.' Basically FH just got up and went downstairs without a word and then my mother and I were at it. What the hell is WRONG with this woman??????? NO blue towels are NOT going to go in the bathroom and YES FMIL is CHEAP but what right does my mother have to go on like that?????? And once my mother starts she doesn't stop...she just keeps going on and on...my father was screaming at her to shut up....and then she acts like nothing has happened and that she perfectly in the right since it's her home and she can say whatever she damn well pleases.
June 15th can't come soon enough....that's when FH and I are moving into our new apartment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry girls I needed to vent.

Re: Mother Vent
sorry
I hear ya with the mom stuff!Vent away but I dont think she will ever change. Kudos to your FH for just walkinga way instead of answering back like you asked.
BTW- Personally, I think its wrong of you to ask him to do not defend his mom to yours but you should be happy he respected your wishes

I know what you're saying but if you knew my mom you'd know what I was talking about. Mom doesn't get the hint when people tell her to just 'drop it.' And unfortantely if FH or anyone gets a little argumentative then it sets her off and she gets loud and hurtful. Bottom line is that she doesn't play fair and it only causes screaming and yelling in the end. After 34 years I've learned that it's just best to let it go and walk away. Cause you're right...she's never going to change so those around her have to adapt to keep the peace. It's like arguing that the sky is blue with a mentally ill person. They just dont get it!!!!!!!

YAY!!!!!!! I can't wait! i spent the night at his house last night and it was sooooooo nice to wake up next to him. Makes it all worthwile....especially after FMIL's comment after we told her that my MOH's mother bought us our vacuum cleaner. 'Oh...well I'll look it up in consumer reports and find out if you should return it or not....' Sure wish I had a parent (future or otherwise) that wasn't such a controling, critical PITA!!!!!!!!!!!
